TOP PICK

Family Onwards

Better Divorce: Divorce & Child Custody Information
If you live in a stepfamily, then you know that you are often dealing with the aftermath of a divorce - unfortunately so many divorces are so hostile and horrific that they leave everyone involved nursing emotional scars for years. This site encourages  non-hostile divorce. Child custody, child support, father's rights, mother's rights, parenting issues, downloads, books, attorney listings and more. Includes advice on modifying child support and forms to help, missing spouse location advice, parenting agreements, etc. A lot of the information is charged for, but there are many resources available for free. The research center bills itself as having 5,000 articles available.

Center for Divorce & Remarriage
This site sells books and seminars designed to help stepfamilies, families experiencing divorce and single parents.

Separated Parenting Access & Resource Center (SPARC)
Focused predominantly on fathers seeking visitation or custody arrangements, this site is loaded with information. I have a reservation about this site, which is that in situations where joint custody for a child is not possible, it advocates for fathers as better custodial parents than mothers. Seeing no research references to support this quite controversial position, that makes me question the validity of the site. However, since dads seeking custody generally get a bad rap, I am including this site on the list. It provides online forums, lots of legal information on custody issues and an attorney directory, downloadable forms, divorce advice, and an excellent section on gaining access to child school records.

Shared Parenting Information Group
From the United Kingdom, this site discusses how parents can both remain vital parts of their children's lives after divorce. Translation options on the site for other languages besides English. Legal advice applies to the United Kingdom, but much useful information.

Talk About It Divorce
Flashcards you can use (sold by this website) to talk to your kids about divorce and their feelings. Cards can be used by social workers, guidance counselors, youth ministers and other youth educators.

Tax Issues - Internal Revenue Service- Child Custody

Time to Parent
An online scheduling service (there is a monthly fee) parents, stepparents and divorced parents can use to coordinate scheduling. Site also has articles (free) about parenting, the effects of divorce on children, and more.
