Wedding Links - Stepfamily Style!
by Dawn Miller
Whether it's your first marriage and you are marrying someone who is divorced with children, or trying to balance warring divorced parents while planning your own wedding, there are lots of questions that come up when organizing a blended family wedding.

If you have a link to suggest, email it to info@thestepfamilylife.com.

A FEW GREAT LINKS

The Knot.Com
This was my personal favorite website when I planned my wedding. Typing "second wedding" in the search engine got more than 100 links. They also have some great Q&A responses for brides and grooms trying to iron out how to involve both biological parents and stepparents in weddings - including seating arrangements, recognition, etc.

Trying to find an etiquette book or wedding planner to help plan your wedding?

Visit the wedding planning shelf in TheStepfamilyLife bookstore!

Advantage Bridal
Has a couple of products to recognize stepparents as part of a stepchild's wedding.

Bride Again
Formerly a print publication that is available online, this magazine offers articles and advice to the bride who is planning a second wedding.

Creating a Successful Stepfamily
This guide from the United Kingdom includes poetry, vows and lots of advice on planning a wedding for a stepfamily. This site will be especially helpful for those planning a wedding who already have children.

Family Onwards
This website contains a few articles to help sort out those tough family relationship issues that can arise with a second wedding. Like should you invite your now ex-in-laws to see their grandkids in the wedding party? How soon should the ex-spouse be informed of the wedding? How to communicate with adult children about a parent's remarriage, dealing with divorced parents on your wedding day, etc.

Keepsake.Com - Products to Recognize Stepparents
There are some keepsake handkerchiefs for sale on this website which can be used to recognize a stepparent by the bride or groom.

I Do Take Two
Advice about having children in your wedding, vows, prenuptial agreements, seating, etiquette, and much more.

Wedding Channel
Plenty of advice for wedding planning and registry options. Only a small amount of information for brides dealing with divorces or becoming stepmoms.

Article Recommendations

Children & Remarriage: The Family Wedding
Discusses the family medallion ceremony and advice on planning a wedding involving children.

Coping With Divorced Parents
From USA Bride. And no, I don't like the advice that if the bio-parents can't get along, the dad and his wife should be seated in the second row while the mother and her husband are placed in the first row - so ignore that part of the article if you can.

Divorced Parent Syndrome
From Frugal Bride. Common problems brides must deal with when parents are divorced.
